Are Skeet Ulrich and Lucy Hale the ‘Riverdale’ couple we need?

Is former Riverdale star Skeet Ulrich in love? It certainly seems possible as he was caught in flagrant PDA with Lucy Hale. Ahh, toujours l’amour!

Loving luncheon

In Hollywood, there’s a pretty little romance in bloom. Lucy Hale was spotted kissing former Riverdale star Skeet Ulrich during a PDA-packed lunch date in Los Angeles over the weekend.

The pair held hands across the table and at one point Hale, star of the CW’s Katy Keene, affectionately lifted Ulrich’s hand to kiss it. “They arrived in his car and walked to the restaurant with his arm around her shoulders,” a source told People. “They waited about 10 minutes for a table during which time she had her arm wrapped around him.”

“After eating, he reached over and kissed her twice before getting up and walking to his car. He opened the door for her,” the source added. “They were super into one another. PDA from when they arrived until when they left.”

Casually connected

Following the one-hour date, Ulrich kissed Lucy again before opening the car door for her like a true gentleman. While they’ve never worked together, they have crossed paths working on the same network. Lucy recently starred on Katy Keene, a spin-off of Riverdale, which Skeet has been part of for four seasons.

“Lucy & Skeet were set up through mutual friends,” a source close to the actress exclusively shared with E! News. “They know a lot of the same people in the acting circle and connected recently. It’s very new. They are both really into each other and have been dating for about a month.”

While the source is quick to call the relationship “pretty casual”, the pair has been seeing each other frequently in recent weeks. “They spend a lot of time at each other’s homes just hanging out and being low key,” the insider explained. “Lucy thinks Skeet is very charming and sweet. She likes that he is a dedicated dad.” Skeet has two children from his relationship with ex-wife Georgina Cates.

Past romance

Hale was last linked to The Bachelor alum Colton Underwood. Last year, they were spotted on a hike together in Los Angeles after his split from Cassie Randolph.

Last year, Ulrich too, was subject to engagement rumors after his ex-girlfriend Megan Blake Irwin was spotted with a diamond ring on that finger. Skeet’s rep denied the rumors, telling E! News, “although there has been speculation after Megan posted a photo wearing a ring, Skeet & Megan Blake Irwin are not engaged.” They called it quits months later.

Pandemic pause

Hale spoke to Entertainment Tonight in July 2020 about her experience dating during the pandemic. “I feel more single than ever, but it’s fine,” she stated. “If anything during this time it’s taught [me]—because I’ve done the whole thing [quarantining] basically alone, and I used to hate being alone . . .

“I feel the only way I’m gonna date someone next is if they make my life better because I’m so happy right now having my own routine,” Hale continued.

“I’m on a dating site now and I still never met up with any of them because I’m too nervous. Believe it or not, I’m really shy in that sense.” Hale also stated she most values a man with a similar sense of humor to hers. “I physically do not have a type. I’ve dated everything cross the board,” she shared.

Charismatic confidence

Hale just wanted to find “someone who’s confident and comfortable in their skin.”

“There’s so many insecure men out there and I can’t do that,” Hale continued. “I’ve dated that. Don’t want that. Work ethic, drive, passion [are qualities I’m looking for]. I don’t care what you do, just love it. Do everything a hundred and ten percent. A good moral compass. Just a good person. It’s very simple what I’m looking for, but that’s hard. Simple qualities are harder to find.”
