The best 2020 sex scenes to keep you busy for the next lockdown
2020 has been a culturally sexual dry spell. Granted, it’s hard to feel sexy when living in the middle of a global pandemic on an unprecedented scale. Still, there have been plenty of awesome sex scenes in both television and film that have been released over the course of 2020. While it looks like another lockdown may be imminent, maybe now’s a good point to look over the best sex scenes of the year.
Because y’all get horny when you’re in quarantine, apparently. With this in mind, we’re looking at some of the best sex scenes that have been released over the course of the year.
That way when we’re all stuck in lockdown due to a second wave of COVID-19 cases, then we’ll at least have something to get us through the darker times of quarantine. Let’s take a look at the sexiest scenes to come out of 2020.
After four and a half seasons of built-up, we finally got the Deckerstar sex scene that we’ve always wanted to see. Four and a half seasons of misdirection, of misunderstandings, of missed opportunities, Deckerstar fans were dying for this scene to happen. Lucifer more than delivered in the episode “BlueBallz”, closing the show out with a couple minutes of pure steam.
Part of it comes down to the hard work that Tom Ellis (Lucifer) and Lauren German (Chloe Decker) put in developing their characters, the relationships, and the ratcheting sexual tension over the course of the seasons. It pays off big time with a lot of intimacy and sexiness. It’s one of the hottest scenes to come out of the series and out of 2020 because it was well-earned.
In The Photograph, Issa Rae (Insecure) is Mae, a grieving daughter who attempts to answer several questions about her mother. After her mother’s death, she finds an old photograph in a safety deposit box. Delving into her mother’s past, she meets journalist Miles (Lakeith Stanfield). Over time, a romantic relationship develops between them, which soon turns steamy.
Rae and Stanfield have some serious chemistry in the film. While there’s no on-screen nudity, the sex scene is still pretty sizzling. Between the use of close-ups and some great aesthetic work, The Photograph focuses on intimacy over titilation, which just makesi t one of the more tasteful sex scenes to come out of the year at large.
The sex scenes in Hulu’s adaptation of Normal People can be hit or miss in terms of sexiness. Some of them take place during a pretty toxic phase of Marianne’s (Daisy Edgar-Jones) life, which can make it an uncomfortable watch. On the other hand, there’s some really sweet, genuine, and pretty steamy scenes between Marianne and Connell (Paul Mescal) that’ll leave an audience breathless.
Starting with their first time together, exploring each other’s bodies with consent, this launches their complex and nuanced relationship. There are many, many sex scenes that follow between them following this, both as individuals and as a couple. But it’s interesting to see the evolution of their sexual lives as well. It’s not really something explored a lot.
The sexiest film of 2020 is this Polish-language romantic dramedy, which is being called the Polish 50 Shades. Hopefully, this means that it’s just due to the sex scenes and not due to the toxic and wrong depiction of BDSM. Either way, there’s a lot of very, very shocking sex scenes within the film. It’s shocking and hot at the same time. There are so many that they are being considered the best of the year.
But the one that has most people talking takes place on a boat. It lasts much, much longer than any sex scene you’ve probably seen Stateside. Oh boy, it certainly reveals a lot.
