‘Outer Banks’: What can we expect from season 2’s explosive episodes?

Netflix released Outer Banks season 1 at just the perfect time during the worldwide pandemic. The fictional teen drama about summer romances & power dynamics remind us of one of those unforgettable vacations we wish could experience in real life.

TV lovers have been comparing the most intriguing Outer Banks episodes to episodes of Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and The OC – shows that once dominated TV screens in the early 2000s. Outer Banks focuses on the lifestyle differences between the wealthy elite and the working class.

Rich folks are called “Kooks” and average individuals are called “Pogues”.  Netflix officially confirmed that there will be a second season of the deliciously pleasurable drama series. Here’s what we can expect to see in season 2’s upcoming Outer Banks episodes.

What will come in season 2?

The Outer Banks episode of season 1 that left viewers questioning everything was the finale. We saw the Pogues finally uncover a bunch of gold beneath the sunken Royal Merchant. After watching them search high & low for so long, it was kind of a relief to finally see them make such a wild discovery.

Viewers also got to see Ward steal the treasure while simultaneously framing John B for murder. Sarah & John B were able to survive the tropical storm they endured while trying to flee the Outer Banks in an escape boat. The rest of their friend crew doesn’t even know they’re still alive yet! Outer Banks season 2 is definitely going to have to cover all of this craziness.

The demise of John B is definitely going to lead to some dangerous interactions. It’s very possible the Pogues will pursue revenge after everything went down in season 1.

Locations & backdrops for season 2

One of the best things about Outer Banks episodes is the fact that they’re filmed on beautiful beach sides a lot of the time. The second season of the show will start with the Bahamas as the backdrop. Eventually, they will be returning to the Outer Banks deeper into the season.

Palm trees, waves crashing, clean sand, and sunshine are paramount when it comes to a show like this one. According to Jonathon Davis’s Instagram page, they even did a bit of filming in Barbados.

When will season 2 hit Netflix?

The first batch of Outer Banks episodes was filmed in April 2019, and in April 2020, season 1 was released on Netflix. This means that if season 2 is following a similar time frame, it should hit Netflix at some point in 2021. An exact release date has not been announced just yet.

Chase Stokes plays the role of John B. in Outer Banks and he posted about what filming season 2 has been like. He wrote, “What a labor of love this season has been. To the best crew in this business: Thank you. You have fought through adversity with a sense of humor. Sacrificed your time during a global pandemic to bring to life another incredibly compelling story.”

Stokes added, “This isn’t an easy show to do, and for those that are there before we get to work, and those who stay when we leave. My heart is filled with gratitude for you. This is more than just a TV show. This has become a big ole’ family.” The cast & crew knows the show they’re bringing to audiences is worth the effort. Too many fans are dedicated to seeing what will happen next.

With the success of Outer Banks season 1 being such a hot topic and with the eagerness fans are having as they wait on season 2, it’s very likely Outer Banks will continue on with season 3. Additionally, Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Rudy Pankow, Madison Bailey, and Jonathan Davis are striking cast members. Audiences want to continue seeing more of this group.
