Although the glory days of Fortnite are long behind us, there’s still a lot to enjoy in this 100-player battle royale. With weekly updates constantly adding new locations, weapons, skins, challenges and so much more, you never really know what you’re gonna get.

Runescape

The classic RPG most 90s nerds will remember, Runescape, has been gaining some popularity recently. Although the old Runescape with its pixelated graphics is still available to play, the more modern Runescape 3 is also free to play online.

Mario Kart Tour

Who doesn’t love Mario Kart? Luckily Nintendo released Mario Kart Tour, a simplified mobile version of everyone’s favorite racing game, for free back in 2019. Similar to Fortnite, this game consistently updates its content to include new carts, racers, and even tracks. Happy racing!

Minecraft

Eleven years after its release, Minecraft is still alive & kicking. In fact, “The Nether Update” was recently added to the game, adding new blocks, ores, monsters, and more to the nether. If you already have the game, or even if you don’t, Minecraft is worth a download this quarantine.

Stardew Valley

Popular farming simulation game Stardew Valley is one of our favorites on this list. To many, a farming simulation might not sound the most fun. But trust us, this oddly satisfying game excels in keeping you hooked for hours. In Stardew Valley you’ll learn to manage your time in-game properly to yield the greatest harvest each season. Stardew is available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.

Rocket League

We can play soccer in a rocket-powered car? Sign us up! Rocket League is an online competitive game in which you play soccer with, you guessed it, a rocket-powered car. You can easily waste your entire day playing Rocket League, which is only a good thing during quarantine.

Overwatch

Similar to Rocket League, Overwatch is an online competitive game – only this time, you shoot your opponents while playing the role of colorful hero. Overwatch has dozens of heroes to choose from and multiple game modes. From a bow- & arrow-wielding assassin to a ball- & chain-swinging pig, there’s a hero for everyone.

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves had a rocky launch back in 2017. Since then, the developers have been pumping out updates to make the game what it was always meant to be. In Sea of Thieves, you and your group of friends can play out your pirate fantasies on the sea, customize your ship, and go on daring adventures.

Animal Crossing

Even though Animal Crossing isn’t technically an online game, we still had to include it on this list. Animal Crossing’s real-world synced clock makes it the perfect game for quarantine.

GTA V Online

GTA V Online released years ago with relatively few missions. In 2020, however, there’s a little too much to do – it can be overwhelming. But with the hundreds of hours of content behind the single price tag, GTA Online is a great game to sink some time into.
