Justin Hartley’s divorce: Dive into his split from ex-wife Chrishell Stause
Divorces in the entertainment industry are barely ever not dramatic & entertaining. But if we were to make the list of some of the most bizarrely wild divorce stories, Justin Hartley & Chrishell Stause’s split would definitely make it to the list. Not only was this a very public break-up, the sequence of events leading to it & the ones that came after has been absolutely chaotic.
If you missed out on the juicy details, we bring you a quick dive into the bleakest corners of this relationship.
The lovebirds, the meet-cute, and the affection
Their meet-cute dates back to when Chrishell Stause was a regular on Days of Our Lives & when Hartley was garnering some fame through hid gig in The Young and the Restless. Both of them seemed to be at a similar stage in their careers & lives. This is perhaps why they hit it off instantly when a mutual friend set them up on a date.
Hartley later gushed about it, “We met up at a concert and talked all night. I drove her home and called the next day. We haven’t been apart since. I knew right away [and] was like, ‘Oh boy, here we go.” Soon enough, their friends heard wedding bells. Four years after this date, they got married in a very picturesque ceremony covered by People Magazine.
More recently, they were both seen in bigger roles in bigger shows – Hartley plays Kevin Pearson in the highly acclaimed show This Is Us & Stause was seen on the real-estate reality show Selling Sunset. As late as November 2019, they seemed to have been friendly in public. Both of them made a public appearance together at a Golden Globes event in LA.
The truth behind the smiles
As a matter of fact, Hartley & Stause seemed fine on the surface that month, as seen at a charity fundraiser organized by Stause. She auctioned a “cup of coffee with Justin Hartley” very cheerfully. However, things must not have been quite as perfect as they seemed, because days later Hartley had filed for divorce & communicated about the same through a text. What a horrible way to go down.
When the news of the divorce broke, the world knew within 45 minutes of the text. Stause barely had time to process it, as she shared with her co-star Mary, “I’m trying to keep it together but it’s a lot all at once because everybody in the whole world knows the same time that I knew. Have you ever been knocked over by a wave and you don’t know which way to swim to get up?”
Mary has the same questions as we do: Hartley had donated gifts to the charity event Chrishell had only just hosted, so how did things go so bad? Stause tells Mary she has no idea either, “, I found out because he texted me that we were filed. Forty-five minutes later, the world knew. We were totally fine that day. I mean, I thought we were totally fine.”
She later added that their marriage was going through a rough patch, but this still stuck her out of the blue, “If that’s really what you wanted, there are better ways to go about it. It’s hard, it takes a toll on your self-worth where you just feel the anger, ‘How could you do it this way?’”
In the meantime, Hartley wiped out all signs of their relationship from his social media, and has allegedly moved on with his The Young and the Restless co-star Sofia Pernas. They’ve been reportedly spotted together & have been hanging out as the Instagram sleuths will tell you. Stause found herself getting involved in more & more work, as she joined the 29th season of Dancing With The Stars.
