Jeffrey Epstein’s education: How did he become a sex criminal?

People who follow the Jeffrey Epstein case often wonder, did Epstein learn to become a sociopath, or was he born that way? Was there something about Epstein’s education that conditioned him to become a sex trafficker and prey on minors?

Looking at Jeffrey Epstein’s education and early years, it seems unremarkable. Epstein showed promise with numbers and is remembered as a smart, knowledgeable person. How did he get swept up in criminal activity?

It probably wasn’t formal schooling. Even if a “bad guy” school existed, Jeffrey Epstein’s education was through street smarts, not book smarts. While he had a knack for numbers and was a gifted student when he was young, he rose to power by making connections and paying attention.

Early life

Jeffrey Epstein was born in Brooklyn, New York to middle-class parents. His mother worked as a teachers’ aide and his father worked maintenance for NYC Parks and Rec. While he wasn’t born with wealth and connections, he was intelligent, skipping two grades in school. Epstein went to NYU but never finished his education there.

The Dalton School

Despite not gaining the credentials, Jeffrey Epstein taught math and physics at the Dalton School, a prestigious prep school in NYC. While Epstein was fired for “poor performance” after two years, he used his time at the school to forge connections that would take him to the top.

Epstein’s head for numbers and financial success

A talent Jeffrey Epstein had was with numbers. He connected with the CEO of Bear Stern during his time at Dalton and quickly impressed at his job by crunching numbers and lending excellent financial advice. He rose through the ranks quickly and a decade later, started his own firm to help the rich & famous recover stolen assets.

The society that enabled Jeffrey Epstein

New York society, like every other haven for the wealthy elite, caters to older men with money. This society offers them comforts, including beautiful, younger women to serve as their arm candy. Like many other wealthy men since the dawn of time, Jeffrey Epstein saw younger, slim, beautiful women as a trophy.

Jeffrey Epstein’s type

Jeffrey Epstein favored the younger, skinny models found all over New York society in the 1990s and 2000s. The “heroin chic” figure was in. Since in Western culture, skinny is associated with being in control, wealthier, and more educated, Jeffrey Epstein loved this type more.

Jeffrey Epstein also liked women who were well-educated. His girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell studied at Oxford and many of his girlfriends and mistresses were students or alumni of NYU.

Need for control

Jeffrey Epstein exhibited a huge need for control in his life. He tracked his diet, exercise, and the temperature in his room to maintain optimal fitness. Epstein was a big believer in the mind/body connection, so he felt the need to be in control of everything that went in and out of his body to keep his mind sharp.

He also loved telling lavish stories about his things. He told one of his girlfriends that his dining room was modeled after a Parisian music box given to him by the pope. He also bragged about his friendship with rich & famous people.

“Quiet and charming”

Despite his ego, people in Jeffrey Epstein’s inner circle described him as quiet and charming. However, his control-freak nature would come out eventually. After six months, many of Epstein’s girlfriends reported that Epstein gave them detailed plans for their relationship, including diets and dress codes.

Of course, the quiet, charming bachelor was an act. Jeffrey Epstein was a sociopath, good at manipulating the people around him into thinking he was nice. Once he gained their trust, the truth came out.

  • “Epstein favored the younger, skinny models” .. uh not to be a buzzkill or anything but most guys prefer younger, skinnier women. The reason that the age of 18 is fetishized within the porn industry probably isn’t because its next to 19 and 20. I don’t have proof of that statement, but I imagine counting the number of videos with the “teen” tag (which legally only spans 2 years) dramatically eclipses those of the “milf” or “mature” tags, which span about 40 years. (25-65). Could it be that so many guys are upset about Epstein because they feel alot of shame about their own similar tastes? Or possibly its jealousy of his prior lifestyle.
Theres an old saying, “you are what you hate.” Sounds legit to me. Amusingly, there was a huge surge of interest in “gilf” or granny porn during the trial. Not quite sure, but that smells like a guilty conscience to me. I could be wrong.

    • You don’t hear that in polite society very often. 3 of of 8 of the women I treat had obsessive sexual ideation (namely: fantasy) involving the late Jeff Epstein. 1 of them still does, another I helped move on to a different obsession (journaling), and I had to terminate contact with the third after recommending a few female practitioners. She had erotic transference, which is fairly common, but she engaged in seduction attempts during each session – each time calling me “Jeffrey”. That isn’t so common- and was rather creepy.

I found her attractive, and knew I would probably give in if I didn’t send her elsewhere. Honestly I find it highly strange that so many women found him to be desirable given what his crimes were, and was thinking this must be a quirk of the low sample size I was using to determine that trend.
