Celebrate ‘Ammonite’ by watching the hottest lesbian sex scenes

A growing interest in lesbian sex scenes in films is finally surfacing. To the credit of many of these arthouse projects, a good lesbian sex scene can take a film many different places. Lesbian sex scenes can give audiences a rewarding ending with risqué scenes and sometimes land actresses Academy Awards for their daring performances.

The new film Ammonite is in search of these very accomplishments, as we add the film and its sexy performances to the catalog of films with the hottest lesbian sex scenes.

Ammonite

Period-piece powerhouse Saoirse Ronan joins Academy award-winning actress Kate Winslet in Francis Lee’s Ammonite, an arthouse film set in the 1840s. Ammonite tells the story of highly acclaimed paleontologist Mary (Winslet), spending her later years collecting & selling shorebound fossils to tourists in order to support her ailing mother.

Mary comes into contact with one male tourist who requests Mary take his young wife Charlotte (Ronan), who herself is battling with tragedy, into her care & guidance for a price Mary cannot refuse.

Mary & Charlotte, who at first clash given their worldviews and opposite personalities, discover they’re not as alone as they thought they once were. The two realize their love for one another and discover each other’s qualities which, unlike Mary’s fossils, aren’t so easily dug up along the shore.

Let’s talk about sex baby

Arthouse films certainly have taken an interest over the years in bizarre yet fascinating sexy scenarios, and now that we’re thinking about 2008’s The Reader, the same observation can be made about Kate Winslet, too.

Ammonite released theatrically on November 12th, 2020, earning generally positive reviews, mostly due to the performances of Winslet & Ronan, whose sexual chemistry is even obvious to those who watch the sex scenes or simply watch the trailer.

Ammonite really feels like a “gender roles reversed” version of 2017’s Call Me By Your Name. The film has us thinking about some of the hottest lesbian sex scenes and how they stack up against each other.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona

This 2008 Woody Allen feature was perhaps a bit more sensual than the director’s previous romantic-drama works, as it featured a sexually provocative but utterly tasty scene where Scarlett Johansson and Penélope Cruz make steamy love in a photo processing room.

The lesbian sex scene, is painted in a dim red color due to the photo processing room, a setting giving off the perfect tone for the audience, as we ourselves are processing what’s happening before our eyes.

Black Swan

Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis go to the next level in this dark Darren Aronofsky film about two competitive ballet dancers fighting for the lead position in “Swan Lake”.

Portman’s character becomes so obsessed with her aspirations to become a perfect dancer, she begins to break down mentally, high off a false reality which includes delusions of a hot lesbian sex scene where Kunis goes down on Portman.

Chloe

Julianne Moore continues her string of wildly detailed and nearly all-bearing sex scenes in 2009’s Chloe, a story about a wife (Moore) who suspects her husband (Liam Neeson), a music professor, is having an affair with his college students.

Moore’s character hires prostitute Chloe (Mamma Mia’s Amanda Seyfried) to tempt her husband and see if he gives in. However, events don’t quite go according to plan . . .

Both Moore & Seyfried share a lesbian sex scene in the film, showing nearly everything while saying very little, letting their bodies do the work as the two embrace. Chloe’s earth-shattering love scene is so hot that even Dr. Fauci wouldn’t complain about their lack of social distancing.

Carol

2015’s Carol stars Oscar winner Cate Blanchett and Oscar nominee Rooney Mara in the onscreen adaption of the 1952 romance novel by Patricia Highsmith titled The Price of Salt.

Carol, set in the 1950s New York City, tells the simple yet steamy story of a young female photographer who falls in love with an older woman going through a rough divorce.

Yeah, but what about the lesbian sex? Oh, trust us . . . it’s worth the wait. Blanchett & Mara are as committed to their lusty scene as they are to any of their roles. The two Hollywood titans give one hundred percent to their physical connection, nearly making the audience feel like they’re taking part in the sex scene with them.
