When will Peacock's 'Joe Exotic' series set a release date? Dive in to learn everything about the scripted 'Tiger King' series.

When will Peacock release the ‘Joe Exotic’ series? Uncover the date

After the success of Tiger King in 2020, there have been scripted series in the works in various places. One is over at Peacock, the streaming service for NBCUniversal, and the other over at Amazon stars Nic Cage as Joe Exotic. Needless to say, the dueling series will be interesting to watch when they are released. Mainly because they’re both going to need their own particular story.

The basics remain the same, of course. In the world of big cats, Joe Exotic takes his rivalry with Carole Baskin to a new & horrifying level when he hires a hitman to attempt to kill her. That’s not getting into how he exploits his animals and the lack of safety practices at his own big cat place. Baskin, meanwhile, may or may not have killed her second husband.

The wild saga, the weird characters, and more have captured the attention of the world with the wildly popular Netflix docuseries Tiger King, which horrified & fascinated everyone at the start of lockdown/quarantine. So, you know, this stuff really & truly is based on a true story. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what we know about the Joe Exotic series & the potential release date.

What is the Peacock Joe Exotic series about?

According to Deadline, the series focuses on “Carole Baskin (McKinnon), a big cat enthusiast, who learns that fellow exotic animal lover Joe “Exotic” Schreibvogel (Mitchell) is breeding and using his big cats for profit. She sets out to shut down his venture, inciting a quickly escalating rivalry.” Kate McKinnon & John Cameron Mitchell play Baskin & Exotic.

Of course, Exotic is not the only one without secrets. The news site continues, “But Carole has a checkered past of her own and when the claws come out, Joe will stop at nothing to expose what he sees as her hypocrisy. The results prove dangerous.” The series also stars Brian Van Holt, Nat Wolff, Sam Keeley, Dennis Quaid, and newcomer Lex Mayson.

The show doesn’t have any connection to the Netflix documentary series. Instead, it’s based on the Wondery podcast from host & reporter Rob Moor, who detailed the wild story in audio. Following this, there was a docuseries and now there are the scripted adaptations in the works. So the story will continue to be told. But when will the series have a release date?

When will Joe Exotic be released?

Currently, there is no release date for the Joe Exotic series. We honestly don’t know when it’s going to happen. If you want our best guess, then we’re thinking sometime in 2022. It’ll be two years post-Tiger King. People will be a bit fuzzy on the details. So it’s a perfect time to release the scripted version of the story. Because people will remember the docuseries as being absolutely crazy.

Plus, well, who doesn’t love Kate McKinnon? While Carole Baskin’s guilt or innocence about the disappearance of her husband Don Lewis is still something debated, the accusation did overshadow Joe Exotic’s own shadiness. He did try to have the women murdered, you know? Yeah, he did weird & funny things, but he still tried to have someone killed.

Either way, we’re probably waiting about a year for Joe Exotic to get a release date over at the Peacock streaming service. We’re really banking on that 2022 release date for the project. Of course, this is just a guess. So we could always be wrong or surprised when the true release date comes out. We are at the whims of the network as we ever were, you know?
