Is ‘Euphoria”s Cassie the most hated character on TV?
Euphoria is filled with sex, drugs, glitter, and a lot of drama. Each character from the dark series is problematic and controversial, but we can’t stop watching it. If you’ve been living under a rock then you’re probably unfamiliar with the Euphoria craze sweeping the internet including the TikTok trends and viral makeup lewks.
Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney) is taking center stage in season 2 and we’re struggling to cope with the tears, drama, and her betrayal. We’re going to give you a rundown on all things Euphoria and how Cassie has turned into the most hated character on TV.
All the Euphoria tea
Since 2019, we’ve been hooked on Euphoria. The series follows controversial protagonist Rue Bennett (Zendaya) as she battles her addiction and personal struggles. We also see her relationship with Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer) bloom and break then reconcile but then crash and burn. (Did we mention there’s a lot of drama?)
Other characters show their struggles along the way including the woman of the hour . . . Cassie. In season 1, we see Cassie struggle with her self-worth and her relationship with her former beau Chris McKay (Algee Smith) ends. Unfortunately, Cassie had to deal with having an abortion and this led to a heartbreaking moment in season 1. A lot of fans felt sympathy for her and she was originally a fan favorite for her raw performance.
Season 2 opened with a drunk Cassie bumping into one of the darkest characters on TV . . . Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi). Nate was in a toxic relationship with Cassie’s best friend Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie). Luckily, Maddy saw her worth and abandoned the ship. Cassie and Nate go for a drive which has since become a viral scene shared on TikTok. (The sexual tension was intense.)
Cassie ends up sleeping with Nate in a bathroom at a party with Nate’s ex Maddy on the other side of the door . . . yikes! Cassie broke girl code and Euphoria season 2 dived straight into the drama.
Cassie has cried A LOT this season and we’re not surprised. It’s clear she’s not coping well with her developing feelings for Nate and her guilt towards Maddy. In episode 5, we saw Rue suffering from withdrawal and calling out Cassie in front of her mom and Maddy about her affair with Nate.

Fans are debating online whether they love or hate Cassie and we can’t blame them.
We’re already gagging for the next episode of Euphoria! After Rue’s bombshell, we didn’t get to see Maddy’s full reaction but we did see Cassie crying yet again and running away. We wouldn’t want to get on Maddy’s bad side and it’s clear she’s not letting Cassie walk away without confrontation.
Luckily, we received the amazing news that Euphoria is coming back for season 3! We can’t wait to see what drama is awaiting everyone. Will Nate and Cassie become an item? Will Maddy kill Cassie? We can’t wait to see what’s in store for these crazy characters.
