Can you download movies on Netflix? How to snag content to view offline

Ready to enjoy your favorite TV show without Wifi? Though it may seem strange, Netflix has provided a way to get all your popular TV shows & movies to you even when you’re in a remote location.

Netflix doesn’t just have over 100 movies & TV shows to pick from, but with any smart device you can continue to watch The Office and more by downloading the episodes before Netflix takes them off their platform. Using the Netflix application, users can download as many shows as their storage space allows.

There’s nothing cuter than a romantic night watching Netflix without that annoying buffering icon. Luckily, this Valentine’s Day, you can enjoy a romantic film that’s already downloaded and ready for your viewing pleasure. Let’s see how!

What can you download?

To download a film or TV show on Netflix you need your smart device like an iPhone, Android, Amazon Fire tablet, Windows 10 tablet or even a Chromebook model. You can download most TV shows or movies but only if the download icon is available.

If you’re not sure about whether your film can be downloaded, click on the “Downloads” tab on your bottom menu. Once you click on the “Downloads” option, Netflix will ask you to “Find Something to Download”, “See What You Can Download”, or “Available for Download” depending on what smart device you’re using.

After you’ve selected the downloads option, a range of films and TV shows will be at your disposal. This will include your “Familiar TV Favorites”, “New Releases”, and even “Binge-worthy TV programs”.

If you’ve found your program or film, you may select the download icon that will appear on the description page. Remember, Netflix only wants to save your data, so make sure you’re on wifi or change your data usage settings.

How to continue downloading?

For those who have a busy schedule, Netflix can help! Netflix’s “Smart Downloads” feature can be activated so when you finish watching an episode of a series, then Netflix will automatically delete the one you’ve watched and download the next few episodes. Talk about a Smart device!

If your device’s storage space is getting too full, you can deactivate the “Smart Downloads” feature by clicking on “Downloads” on your Netflix app. In “Downloads” you’ll find the option “Smart Downloads” and you can switch it off or on.

If you’re having trouble with Netflix’s “Smart Downloads” feature, you should make sure that your Wifi connection is on and that there is actually another episode in your series. If you would like to download your episodes with your cellular data then you need to change your data settings in your Netflix app.

How do you access your downloads?

Depending on your download package, you can download approximately 100 downloads over multiple devices. However, to find your downloaded Lucifer episode, you need to use the device that was used to download them. Netflix users will need to sign into their Netflix account and select the “Downloads” tab.

Once you’re in Netflix’s “Downloads” tab, select the “Play” option and get ready for a Netflix offline experience.

Worried about the kids getting a hold of your Fifty Shades of Grey or Grown Ups download? Don’t worry – all Netflix kids profiles only present age appropriate content for your children to enjoy. Whew! 😅

You can download movies on Netflix as much as you want, but if you cancel your Netflix subscription, then all your binge-worthy TV shows & movies will automatically be deleted as well.

Don’t forget that not all your Netflix favorites will be available for download as Netflix doesn’t own all the content rights for various shows & films. Netflix still provides us with the latest shows and the best blockbusters, so get ready for a buffering-free experience with Netflix downloads.
