Calling Lady Whistledown: Swoon over these ‘Bridgerton’ quotes

The hype for Bridgerton is starting to wane, not because everyone loves it less, but because the newness is wearing off. The hype will likely be renewed all over again when the second season eventually drops on Netflix.

That said, we’re still obsessed with the show. Today, we’d like to turn our focus to the writing. There are plenty of wonderful lines in Bridgerton, it’s part of the show’s charm. The characters say witty, clever, and occasionally heartfelt things all the time.

Here are our favorite quotes from the Netflix show Bridgerton – not to be confused with the popular book series it was inspired by.

The subject of love

Bridgerton has plenty of quotes on love – it is, after all, the main focus of the show’s plot. We selected some of the most poignant and unique quotes the show has to offer on the subject.

The quotes

Of course, we’d have to have quotes about love – that’s the main plot of Bridgerton after all!

“To meet a beautiful woman is one thing, but to meet your best friend in the most beautiful of women is something entirely apart.” – Simon Basset

“We chose to love each other, every single day.” – Lady Violet

“We simply enjoyed each other’s company so much, we could not stay away from one another.” — Simon Basset (Oh, to have our own love like that . . . perhaps some day.)

Inspiration

The women in Bridgerton are a determined lot – as such they have some rather inspiring words of wisdom to share every once in a while. From the determined Eloise to the anonymous Lady Whistledown, they have some pretty good advice.

The quotes

“Do it. Be bold.” – Eloise Bridgerton (The Netflix version of Nike’s slogan.)

“There is nothing you cannot do.” — Lady Violet Bridgerton

“I have always thought that an appreciation of the arts is what lifts us beyond mere animals. It stirs the passions, and moves the spirit.” – Lady Whistledown

Being a woman

Being a woman wasn’t easy during the time period Bridgerton takes place, and being a woman today can still have its hardships at times. These lines would have been bold statements back then, and are occasionally still startlingly relatable today.

The quotes

“You have no idea what it is to have one’s entire life reduced to a single moment.” – Daphne Bridgerton

“If you desire the sun and moon, all you have to do is go out and shoot at the sky. Some of us cannot.” – Eloise Bridgerton (to her brother)

“It was done by a man who sees a woman as nothing other than a decorative object.” – Eloise Bridgerton (Eloise, once again serving scalding truths. We could apply this statement to so many things.)

Sass and wit

Bridgerton has no shortage of quippy lines, so it was no small task choosing our favorites, but these ones spoke to us and our scathing dry humor. We’re half shocked that all three of these aren’t from Eloise, but she did manage two of them.

The quotes

“It would be better if you refrain from thinking about me at all.” – Daphne Bridgerton

“I do not share my food.” – Eloise Bridgerton

“The only thing I am grateful for is that I am not you, nor will I ever be.” – Eloise Bridgerton (A savage burn that we’ll definitely have to borrow at some point.)
