Kat Dennings in YouTube Red’s Dallas & Robo

YouTube Red has greenlit eight episodes for Dallas & Robo, an animated space adventure-comedy from production company Shadowmachine. The show is set to premiere in 2018 and stars Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls) and John Cena (The Marine) as the titular characters.

Summer box office tracking to lowest mark in over a decade

According to projections provided by comScore, with Summer drawing to a close, it now looks like 2017 could be the first year since 2006 that the season’s domestic box office fails to earn more than $4 billion.

Cara Delevingne joins Carnival Row

The Suicide Squad actress has signed on to costar alongside Orlando Bloom (The Good Doctor) in the upcoming Amazon fantasy-noir drama series Carnival Row. Delevingne will play Vignette Stonemoss, a refugee who arrives in the neo-Victorian city of Burgue.

Cost-cutting and layoffs at Disney-ABC TV

By the end of Disney’s fiscal year next month, Disney-ABC Television Group is expected to be cutting annual costs by 10%, with a restructuring of operations expected to include large-scale layoffs.

Miramax lays off more employees

Under new CEO Bill Block, Miramax has dismissed 20 more employees as part of an ongoing cost-cutting plan; this comes after the independent studio fired 25 employees from its TV production team in May.
