FD News: Bobs Burgers, EW and Polanski blues
Fox orders a combo: Bob’s Burgers comes to the movies
Bob’s Burgers will soon be heading to a drive-in near you. According to Variety, Fox is developing a movie to be released in 2020. The story focuses on the daily trials and tribulations of the Belcher family while running their hamburger joint in a seaside town. Creator Loren Bouchard explained, “In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!”
Entertainment Weekly moves to the best coast
EW is set to leave the trash-filled streets of New York for sunnier climes. The magazine, founded in 1990, is upping sticks to the piss-soaked streets of Hollyweird. Of the move Editor-in-Chief Henry Goldblatt described, “As we re-imagine and re-invent our brand it makes sense to do it in the entertainment capital.” The most shocking part of this story to us is that it took them 38 years to figure that out. More entertainment writers in town means more frenemies to make.
Another day, another rape allegation
Auteur, director, and husband of Sharon Tate (Valley of the Dolls), Roman Polanski (Rosemary’s Baby) got in trouble with the PoPo back in 1977 and has been living in exile outside the US ever since. The charge? Unlawful sex with a minor. Since then, three additional women have claimed he sexually assaulted them, the most recent claim coming to light in August of this year. Now German actress Renate Langer (Die Venusfalle) has released a statement claiming Polanski raped her when she was a teenager more than once. Langer says she didn’t report the crime at the time because she feared upsetting her family. So far Polanski has yet to comment.
