After Evan Rachel Wood named Marilyn Manson as her abuser, how will this affect the shock rocker's net worth? Find out if Manson can still make money here.

Will Marilyn Manson’s net worth drop after Evan Rachel Wood’s allegations?

Hours after Evan Rachel Wood revealed Marilyn Manson was her abuser on her Instagram page, Manson’s record label dropped him like a hot potato. This decision wasn’t only on the heels of Wood’s allegations – four other women came forward the same day and accused the shock rocker of abusive behavior towards them.

Manson’s current record label, Loma Vista, made the following statement: “In light of today’s disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser, Loma Vista will cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately. Due to these concerning developments, we have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects.”

Right before the announcement, Loma Vista scrubbed Manson from their website, so you know they mean business. Manson’s also been cut from AMC’s Creepshow project. There also may be legal trouble coming his way, as California senator Susan Rubio wrote FBI Director Christopher Wray about opening up a legal investigation per Vanity Fair, claiming Manson’s actions noted he was a “serial offender”.

Which brings us to our perennial question at Film Daily: how will the allegations affect Marilyn Manson’s net worth? Dive into how much this veteran shock rocker stands to lose.

Marilyn Manson’s net worth

Per International Business Times, Marilyn Manson’s modest net worth is $10 million, and while us lesser mortals would cut our leg off for that net worth, it’s not much in the celebrity world. Manson’s heyday of rolling in the dough was in the 90s after Trent Reznor discovered Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids. Manson’s albums went platinum in the late 90s, including Mechanical Animals and Antichrist Superstar

Manson faced national & international scrutiny after the Columbine shooting in 1999 when the shooters were reported to have worn Manson’s T-shirts. However, it wasn’t the backlash after Columbine that slowed his career. Rap eclipsed rock as the “shocking, controversial” genre of the 2000s, prompting edgy teenagers to spend their money on other acts like Eminem & 50 Cent.

Meanwhile, Marilyn Manson kept his net worth steady by continuing to put out music and appear in films & TV shows. Manson guest-starred in the hit show Sons of Anarchy and put out some critically-acclaimed albums like The Pale Emperor and Eat Me, Drink Me. In 2015, he signed on with Loma Vista.

Allegations

The first allegations against Marilyn Manson surfaced in 2018 per International Business Times. After Evan Rachel Wood first started speaking out about abuse, fans speculated Manson was the perpetrator. Manson’s reps “categorically denied” it was him.

While fans pointed out Manson’s statements in interviews about wanting to bash Evan Rachel Wood with a hammer, his legal team claimed the allegations were made to shock & promote Manson’s new album. Manson also reportedly depicted a woman with Wood’s likeness in one of his videos as mangled & dead. Again, Manson’s team denied the allegations and claimed it was done for shock value.

The assault allegations in 2018 went back to 2011. However, Los Angeles police declined to press charges then, citing “statutes of limitations and a lack of corroboration” per ABC News. Manson’s lawyer called the claims “categorically false”.

Manson released a statement in response to Wood’s claims, denying the accusations calling Wood’s statement “a horrible distortion of reality”.

Marilyn Manson’s future

It remains to be seen how these accusations will affect Marilyn Manson’s net worth. He’s amassed enough of a following over the years to keep putting out albums independently. However, it remains to be seen if his fan base will continue to support him.

Like most musicians today, a big chunk of Marilyn Manson’s net worth came from concerts. Manson toured with Rob Zombie on a Twins of Evil tour in 2012, 2018, and 2019. It’s unclear whether a fourth tour will manifest after COVID-19 is contained. Manson’s tour partner, Rob Zombie, hasn’t released a statement about the allegations as of this writing.

Marilyn Manson’s ex-fiancee Rose McGowan released a statement on Instagram about the accusations. The actress professed on Twitter that she stood with Evan Rachel Wood and other abuse victims in Hollywood. She also called Hollywood to account in a video on Instagram, saying “the Hollywood cult must be stopped”.
