Tiger Woods’s net worth increases again: Take a look at his new course

Widely regarded as the most famous professional golfer of all time, Tiger Woods will be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame next year. Infamous for a shocking scandal, Tiger Woods overcame a lot to be where he is. Now, he’s finishing his long career strong.

With such a renowned title, Woods became a coveted athlete for sponsors. Playing golf professionally since 1996, Tiger Woods earned more than $1.4 billion according to Forbes. As of 2018, Tiger Woods’s net worth was estimated to be $800 million.

Yet, once again, Tiger Woods is expanding this breathtaking worth as he stepped into the limelight during the U.S. Open and Payne’s Valley Cup – a charity exhibition. Here’s how Tiger Woods attained his fortune and what level it’s reached now.

Tournament winnings

Tiger Woods isn’t just the most famous golfer because his face is plastered on Nike products or because of his shocking scandal – he won over fifteen major titles and 110 professional tournaments worldwide.

His career as a golfer also opened up other pursuits such as designing golf courses and managing event businesses with Genesis Invitational, Hero World Challenge, Nexus Cup, Tiger Jam, and Tiger Woods Invitational. Of course, much of the proceeds go to his TGR Foundation charity which offers aid to students & teachers in need of educational resources.

Still, Tiger Woods definitely sits on the throne when it comes to golf tournament winnings. He’s won over $120 million in PGA Tour earnings. Today in the year 2020, his net worth is likely close to $900 million.

Steady sponsors

Considering Tiger Woods’s massive successes, companies were jumping up & down to sponsor him. Woods struck up sponsorship deals with Nike, TaylorMade, Monster, GOLF TV, Bridgestone, Kowa, Hero, Upper Deck, Full Swing Simulators, & Centinel Spine.

Pooling these massive sums from contributors, Tiger Woods was pulling in roughly $60 million per year. This is three times the amount of his golfing competitors like Rory MicIlroy who receives around $20 from Nike & TaylorMade.

Nike, in particular, has collected Tiger Woods as a primary advertiser. He’s been glued to the company since 1996 where he made a deal earning him $40 million over the course of five years. This deal was reportedly renewed for the following five years, netting him $100 million.

Tiger Woods’s 2009 sex scandal (where he cheated on his wife with multiple women including a porn star) certainly set him back. The professional golfer lost sponsors from Gillette, Gatorade, Accenture, & AT&T. Nike, however, stuck by him despite the crazy scandal.

Still making bank

At the age of forty-four, Tiger Woods is still doing his thing, raking in the cash. Woods competed recently in the U.S. Open and at Payne’s Valley Cup which broadcast Tiger Woods & Justin Thomas facing off against Rory McIlroy & Justin Rose.

Unsurprisingly, Tiger Woods has still got it – winning the tournament (with serious help from his partner.) Luckily the proceeds went to charity – the Payne Stewart Family Foundation. However, this tournament did showcase Woods’s first public golf course design. The notoriety will no doubt open up more doors for Tiger Woods to further his lucrative career.
