Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez: See the lavish wedding that almost was

J-Lo & A-Rod, A-Rod & J-Lo. Will they? Won’t they? It’s been quite the turbulent couple of months for Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez, who felt the need to release a statement to let us all know they’re still together. This is a response to rumors that the couple were calling it quits after the media had a field day with allegations that A-Rod cheated on J-Lo with Southern Charm’s star Madison LeCroy.

So it looks like Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez are still trying to make their relationship work. Are they still engaged though? That’s what we really want to know. Mainly because they’ve postponed their wedding twice already. And we’re all getting a little antsy.

Wedding Número Uno

Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez got engaged two years ago, in March 2019, after dating for a couple of years. The Hollywood star & the sports personality got pretty far into planning their nuptials . . . twice! Page Six has revealed some deets about both botched attempts, courtesy of a source close to the couple.

The original plan called for Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez to get married in early June last year. The setting? Italy, global pandemic be damned. More specifically, the picturesque town of Positano on the gorgeous Italian Amalfi Coast. According to Page Six’s source, the wedding “was going to be a big multi-day affair.” No mention of whether guests were going to be required to wear masks though.

Geez, J-Lo, you know what we call those, right? Super-spreaders! Someone must have told the happy couple, because the reason they cancelled the nuptials is said to have been COVID-related after all.

Wedding Número Dos

It didn’t take long for Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez to try again. Seriously, it didn’t take long at all, as the couple set a second wedding date for just a couple of months later. The new plan was to get married in August 2020, in the Hamptons, in a much smaller, more intimate affair. Well, smaller & intimate by J-Lo & A-Rod standards, of course.

This second attempt at a wedding would actually take place in an eight-bedroom, 7.5 bathroom estate in Water Mill that Jennifer Lopez bought all the way back in 2013 for a mere $10 million. Again, Page Six’s source didn’t mention any type of COVID-19 precautions being part of the plan . . . which might be why the event was also said to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

2021 gotcha

You’d expect Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez to give wedding planning another shot this year, especially since things seem to be looking up a little bit on the pandemic front (those two have totally gotten vaccinated already, haven’t they?). However, 2021 brought more trouble to the relationship, this time in the form of nasty gossip regarding A-Rod being unfaithful.

It all started in early February, when the New York Post reported Alex Rodriguez was Madison LeCroy’s rumored mystery lover. Speculation had been rampant about LeCroy’s lover’s identity since the matter had been brought up in a Southern Charm reunion special. An insider close to A-Rod tried to clear his name, but ended up giving The Post a weird statement instead.

“He doesn’t know this woman,” said the insider. “Look, does this mean he didn’t DM her and liked a photo or two? I guess not, but he doesn’t know her – and he definitely didn’t hook up with her.” Uhhh . . . why does that statement make it sound like he definitely hooked up with her then?

Ain’t over till it’s over?

Soon after – we’re talking just a few days ago – Page Six reported Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez had broken up. The article cited A-Rod’s alleged infidelity, as well as the couple’s already rocky journey through 2020, including the two truncated wedding attempts. Page Sex even brought up the fact J-Lo had once mentioned they’d been to a therapist during quarantine.

So that was it for Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez? Not so fast! As we mentioned at the beginning of this piece, the couple countered Page Six’s claims with a pretty vague statement: “All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things.” Page Six got confirmation from a source close to the couple, who said they were indeed working through things but “it’s unclear if that means they’re staying together.”

Who knows, maybe some of the things they’re working through are wedding plans for late 2021.
