George Clooney has been in the film industry for many years, so there are bound to be some weird ones in his filmography; we went looking for them.

The strangest movies George Clooney has starred in over the years

George Clooney is a huge star in the realm of Hollywood, but even he’s not immune to some odd choices in terms of films he appears in. Every actor has some questionable credits on their IMDb page, including Clooney.

Clooney has starred in plenty of great movies, such as Gravity and The Descendants, but nobody has a flawless track record. Here are some of the strangest movies George Clooney has starred in throughout his career.

The Men Who Stare at Goats

The title should already be an indicator of this movie’s oddness. The Men Who Stare at Goats focuses on a group of warrior monks who try to revolutionize modern warfare with telepathic weaponry. Both audiences & critics didn’t respond well to this one, leading to a flop for this oddly-titled comedy.

Leatherheads

Leatherheads is a sports comedy about 1920s football, directed by Clooney and also starring The Office’s John Krasinski. Much of the comedy didn’t score with many, making this film mostly forgettable. Even Krasinski couldn’t save this old-school football comedy. If you want a good sports comedy, go watch Dodgeball instead.

Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over

Spy Kids 3 is a strange film for many big stars including Sylvester Stallone & Elijah Wood. While George Clooney has a brief role as the President of the United States, it’s still odd to see Clooney popping up in a cheesy, family film with horrible CGI & incredibly dated 3-D effects. Clooney appeared in the first Spy Kids as well, but Spy Kids 3 is easily the stranger out of the two.

Hail, Caesar!

Hail, Caesar! has plenty of mixed reactions from both audiences & critics, but the film is certainly odd. The Coen Brothers are known for directing strange, but normally good movies. However, Hail, Caesar! is trying to do way too much. The cast is incredible and George Clooney gives a good performance, but it’s still a quirky, bizarre movie.

Tomorrowland

Based on the land at Disney Parks, Tomorrowland has elements of a fun, sci-fi adventure. However, the strangest part of Tomorrowland comes in the relationship between George Clooney’s character and an android which takes the form of a little girl. It is never clear whether Clooney and the android are official love interests, but even the inferred relationship is slightly creepy.

Batman & Robin

Whenever a conversation about the worst superhero movie ever comes up, Batman & Robin is usually mentioned. From Arnold Schwarzenegger yelling cheesy ice puns to George Clooney as Batman whipping out his bat credit card, Batman & Robin is a shockingly awful affair. Thankfully, Christopher Nolan saved the Batman legacy eight years later.

Return of the Killer Tomatoes

Every actor has to start somewhere, even if it involves tomatoes that kill people. This sequel to the cult classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes stars George Clooney in one of his earliest roles. The movie isn’t very good, unsurprisingly given its title, but it is worth the watch just to see Clooney fight off evil tomatoes.

The Monuments Men

Another film directed by George Clooney, The Monuments Men should have worked on paper – it had an intriguing concept and excellent casting. However, both critics & audiences found this movie to be boring and inconsistent with its tone. Clooney has proven himself to be a good director in the past, but this isn’t one of his finest efforts.

While Clooney has had a strong career so far, these are some of the movies which stand out as strange in his catalog. While some of these are not horrible movies, it is odd to see Clooney starring in them. Is there a George Clooney movie that’s not on our list that you thought was weird? Let us know!
