“The One Where It Finally Comes Out”: Peek at the ‘Friends’ reunion special

They’ll be there for you like they’ve been there before! That’s right, everyone . . . it’s happening! Friends is finally returning to our screens. Jennifer Anniston, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer will be gracing our small screens with their reunion special on HBO Max and the release date has just been revealed. 

Paper, snow, a ghost? No, it’s the Friends reunion special. Peek at what the beloved cast has to offer this month on HBO Max.

How you doin’?

This is not a drill, we’re actually going to see the Friends cast reunite once again after seventeen years. Seventeen years? Ouch, that makes us feel old. Anyway, the hilarious ensemble will be hosting their own reunion special alongside special guests on HBO Max, and . . . it will premiere on May 27th! 

We are thirteen days away and we aren’t quite sure how to prepare ourselves. BTS, Lady Gaga, David Beckham, Justin Bieber, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon, and Malala Yousafzai will also be appearing in the long-awaited reunion.

What makes the unscripted special even more . . . special is that it will take place at Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank. Stage 24 is actually the location of the original soundstage for the ever-so-popular sitcom. It’s going to be directed by Ben Winston and executive produced by original Friends masterminds Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane.

It hasn’t been your day, your month, or even your year

What will make our year that much better? This Friends reunion special. The HBO Max teaser really tugs at our heartstrings and no this isn’t fan-made unlike the majority of reunion trailers we’ve been teased with in the past. Seeing the six friends reunited just feels right and we can’t wait to see what’s in store.

Friends was on a break, but now it’s back and it never felt so good! After its debut in 1994, the sitcom became many people’s favorite for numerous reasons. The comedy, the romance, the friendship, and the neverending drama. Friends introduced us to painfully relatable characters who ended up in disastrous situations. 

After ten seasons, we saw the iconic purple door close and our group of misfits walk away. It was heartbreaking, but at the time, it felt like a natural end. Of course, we’d always welcome them back with open arms and this reunion special gives us a chance to honor the iconic 90s TV show. 

HBO Max managed to snag the rights to Friends after coughing up a ridiculous $425 million to Netflix for streaming rights. The 90s is making a comeback and clearly, HBO wants to be at the forefront of our nostalgia. They recently hosted a Fresh Prince of Bel Air reunion special so it’s no surprise that they wanted to reunite the legendary Friends cast once again.

Friends fans haven’t stayed silent following HBO Max’s latest teaser and we’re here to celebrate the special! Here are the best reactions:
