The holidays are coming, and Christmas movies will be blooming on Netflix soon! Here’s what to expect during your seasonal hot chocolate craving in 2021.

Check out the Christmas movies Netflix is baking up for the holiday season

Technically, it’s May, but Christmas decorations go up in, like, September, so really Christmas is right around the corner. The hap-happiest season of all will tear through our lives like a freight train soon enough. With that time of the year comes some brand new Christmas movies from Netflix. In fact, projects have been announced right now for the streaming service.

While we’re expecting another entry into The Princess Switch franchise, there are more Netflix Christmas movies in the works as well. What can we expect from the 2021 holiday season? Well, apparently, we can expect a lot from the streaming service that we just don’t know how to quit, even when it does another price hike. Here’s what to expect during your seasonal hot chocolate craving in 2021.

The Princess Switch 3

The Princess Switch is going up to another switch. This time, however, Vanessa Hudgens will be pulling triple duty in the threequel, possibly more. In 2020, we had The Princess Switch: Switched Again which saw Hudgens returning to the role of Stacy & Margaret. Stacy was an ordinary baker who fell for a Prince, who was engaged to Duchess Margaret. Shenanigans ensue.

In the sequel, we get another Hudgens character, Fiona, who is Margaret’s cousin and tries to assume her identity so she gets crowned as queen instead of Margaret. Plot details for the third film are being kept under wraps. Maybe the whole trying to overthrow the monarchy thing for Fiona will play a role. Or, who knows, maybe we’ll see Hudgens play a fourth role or something.

Is The Princess Switch franchise the Orphan Black of Netflix? . . . Perhaps.

A Castle for Christmas

Want more Netflix rom-com delights with their Christmas movies? Another film in development, A Castle for Christmas is here to give you what you need. Starring Brooke Shields & Cary Elwes, the story, according to THR, is as follows: “[F]amed American author, Sophie, who travels to Scotland and finds herself wanting to buy a castle, but the prickly owner, a Scottish Duke named Myles, is reluctant to sell to a foreigner.”

Of course, just because they hate each other at first sight doesn’t mean that love won’t be in the air. C’mon people. We know how this works. “Working to find a compromise, the pair constantly butt heads, but along the way they just may find more than they bargained for.” Always great to see Elwes in more stuff. Brooke Shields is always great when she acts so this should be a fun movie.

Untitled Lindsay Lohan Christmas movie

Lindsay Lohan makes her return to acting after taking a break with her role in an upcoming Netflix Christmas rom-com, which is the bread & butter of the Netflix Christmas movies. We don’t even have a title for the film nor do we have any other announced cast members, but, from the plot details that were given, the movie sounds interesting.

According to Deadline, “The plot centers on a newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress (Lohan) who gets into a skiing accident and, suffering from amnesia, finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.” Kind of like that movie Overboard? Maybe, hopefully, it will be less creepy?

Just no one taking advantage of anyone. That’s all we’re asking here for this movie, you know? It’s not a big ask, except, apparently, in Hollywood where it’s a huge ask. Either way, good for Lohan getting back into acting.
