2020 has been the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year from hell. This awful year just seems to have a bad twist after bad twist prepared for humanity as if this is some bad made-for-television movie with an outlandish & unbelievable script.

But here we are, and this is our reality. 2020 is a nightmare we can’t wake up from. A lot of people go to entertainment for escapism, but even this has had a shade of sadness added to it since a number of beloved celebrities have lost their lives this year. Here are some of the deaths we’re still reeling from.

Naya Rivera

Best known for her role on Glee Naya Rivera went missing earlier this month. Her four-year-old son was found in a boat on Lake Piru, alone. A search for Naya went on for days, and eventually, she was found in the lake.

It’s believed she saved her son and put him in the boat before she ultimately drowned. Piru is known for being a dangerous lake with little visibility and high winds, so everyone is grateful this tragic accident didn’t take both lives that day. Though our hearts still ache for Naya and her family.

Fred Willard

Actor and comedian Fred Willard passed away earlier this year from a suspected heart attack. Fred is best known for his television roles on Everybody Loves Raymond and Modern Family, and even the Anchorman movie. Though, even people who may not know him by name likely recognize him for having guest roles in various different pieces of entertainment.

Shortly after his death, the Netflix show Space Force was released where he played the father of the main character, General Naird (Steve Carell). Fred Willard was 86 years old.

Grant Imahara

Grant Imahara was best known for his work on the show Mythbusters on the Discovery channel where he would help to find answers for strange & well-perpetuated myths. He also did something similar with fellow Mythbusters castmates Kari Byron and Tory Belleci on The White Hat Project.

However, Grant Imahara was also an immensely talented visual effects artist for practical effects & engineering. He worked on massive franchises like The Matrix and Jurassic World. In fact, Grant Imahara was also the creator of the fully animatronic Baby Yoda in The Mandalorian.

Grant Imahara’s death was extremely sudden & unexpected – he died of a brain aneurysm at the age of 49.

Kobe Bryant

The death of Kobe Bryant shook everyone. The famously talented basketball player who had people who never even watched basketball yelling “Kobe!” when they tossed paper balls into a trashcan died in January of this year in a helicopter accident along with his daughter.

The helicopter was reportedly told not to lift off due to weather, but it did so anyway and the pilot ended up unable to see because of the conditions. Nobody survived the crash.

Nicole Thea

24-year-old YouTube star Nicole Thea passed away this month. Nicole Thea was pregnant and the son she was carrying passed with her. Her death is still being investigated, though early reports indicate the cause was a massive heart attack.

People are surprised because Nicole was known for being healthy, fit, and active thanks to her being a dancer. This heartbreaking news has shocked both her family and fans.

Carl Reiner

Carl Reiner passed away at the age of 98 in June of this year. Carl Reiner is considered a legendary actor & comedian. His most well-known work was the creation of The Dick Van Dyke Show, but even made an appearance in Ocean’s Eleven.

Carl Reiner also did voice work on numerous animated works, and even read books on tape. He had won 11 Emmy awards, a Grammy, a Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1999.
