Curious about Amy Poehler's kids? Get to know her the two sons that Amy Poehler has with her ex, Will Arnett.

Amy Poehler’s kids should’ve hosted the Golden Globes: Get to know them

The Golden Globes were last night. While there were a lot of highlights for the ceremony: Chadwick Boseman’s posthumous win, Andra Day’s win, Chloe Zhao’s win, John Boyega’s sweatpants, Jason Sudeikis’ sweatshirt, hosts Tina Fey & Amy Poehler dragged the Hollywood Foreign Press on their lack of diversity, it was all a great night. Fey & Poehler, as usual, killed it.

Amy Poehler, however, seems to have passed on that famously funny gene to her two kids. While Poehler and ex-husband Will Arnett are divorced, the duo remain close with each other and are dedicated parents to their sons (Archie & Abel). They even quarantined together during COVID. Anyone who has had to spend extended time with an ex knows that’s hard.

What do we know about Amy Poehler’s kids? Take a look and learn about why they may be future Golden Globes hosts themselves.

Background

In 1996, Amy Poehler met Will Arnett, which led to them dating. In 2003, the couple married. In 2008, they had their first son, Archie William Emerson Arnett. Two years later, they welcomed their second son, Abel James. Amy Poehler and Will Arnett, despite their fame, have kept details on their kids pretty private. It makes sense, many famous parents want to give their children normal lives.

Amy Poehler even makes sure to not to post pictures of her kids on social media. Again, this is also a move that a lot of famous parents do. Some prefer to wait until their children are mature enough to make those sorts of decisions and give their consent for their pictures to appear on their famous parents accounts. It could be that Poehler & Arnett want to give their sons the same option.

In 2012, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett separated with Arnett filing for divorce in 2014. Since then, the exes seem to have been happily co-parenting their kids together. Poehler, famously, praised her sons’ nannies in her Time 100 speech for taking good care of her children and helping her find a balance between her career and her family. Poehler lives with her sons in Los Angeles.

Why are Amy Poehler’s kids funny then?

Amy Poehler may not share too much about her kids, but what she does share about them makes it clear that they have inherits her comedic chops. In an interview with Seth Meyers, Poehler revealed that she’s showing her kids Parks & Rec in quarantine for the first time. So pure! And, proving these boys have good taste, they’re enjoying seeing the show.

As Poehler said, “eah, that is pretty cool. It’s really sweet… And I don’t just say this because I’m on it, it is such a good show to watch right now because it makes you feel good and it’s about a bunch of people working together to solve problems.” Parks & Rec, teaching the valuable life lessons to pass onto the future generations.

Even if her kids decide on a different career path, Amy Poehler shared in her pook Yes, Please! that she will always be proud of them. She wrote, “I love my boys so much I fear my heart will explode. I wonder if this love will crack open my chest and split me in half. It is scary, this love.”

So could we see her sons at the Golden Globes?

If Amy Poehler’s kids want to follow in her and Arnett’s famously funny footsteps, then they will definitely have some major support in their mom. If not, then it sounds like they still have her love & support as well. Either way, we hope that they enjoy the rest of Parks & Rec, which is still too pure and needed for this world
