Enter the colorful world of creative dog grooming with ‘Well Groomed’
Well Groomed is a documentary which explores the vibrant world of color & glitter which is creative dog grooming. This film educates viewers on this American subculture as well as telling the story of pets, families, friendships, and the glory of creativity through a bright prism of color.
Well Groomed will be available on Tuesday, July 21st, either as a DVD or as a video on demand on all major platforms. Well Groomed was a hit at the SXSW festival, and an edited down shorter version was also featured on HBO in December.
Rebecca Stern directed Well Groomed and created a documentary which follows the lives of a group of dog lovers whose dedication to transforming their beloved poodles into living sculptures is bold, imaginative, and eye-opening. Viewers are met with the competitive side of this creative endeavor.
A group of champion groomers and their lovely dogs take us on a journey in a year of their lives – from California, to South Carolina, to New York, to Arkansas we see the group go from home to large scale competitions & showrooms where their community can meet, discuss, and compete.
We see these individuals and their drive to win while also being faced with personal and professional challenges. However, they all take their limited free time to experiment and groom their dogs, and subsequently revolutionize the age-old question: What is art?
These dog groomers, and their “creative partners” (or dogs) are seen as they work to achieve a coveted win for their hard work, passion, and creativity while also maintaining their personal and professional lives.
